Targus DOCK190-The Only Truly Universal Total Docking Station
At Targus, Universal Doesn't Just Mean One Vendor's Platform
The Targus DOCK190 is a native USB Type-C 3.1 Gen 1 (USB SuperSpeed) Universal Docking Station (UDS) that works with Thunderbolt, DisplayPort Alternate Mode, and USB Type-C Gen 1 and Gen 2 hosts, and many other USB Type-C hosts, to render up to dual 4K60P graphics monitors. It can supply USB Type-C Power Delivery to host devices at up to 100W. This means that it can render graphics/audio, hub USB, and supply GbE while powering and charging the host Windows PC, MacBook, Linux PC, Chromebook, or Android Phone no matter the brand or model (No vendor lock)! It also comes with the ability to convert the USB Type-C connection to USB Type-A SuperSpeed, commonly called USB 3.0 and properly called USB 3.1 Generation 1. In this mode, it can be used to supply up to 90W at 19.5VDC for legacy (barrel) host power and charging via Targus power tips.
Type-C That Just Works
Like the ultra-compatible DOCK180, the DOCK190 uses the USB protocol for the video over a USB Type-C connection. This is preferred because USB protocol is on all USB Type-C host ports. Users don't have to worry about the host ports capabilities or incompatibilities, it just works! USB just works on USB Type-C Gen 1 (aka USB 3.0) or USB Type-C Gen 2, Thunderbolt 3 or Thunderbolt 2, DisplayPort Alternate Mode, HDMI or MHL Alternate Mode, or other Host USB Type-C Alternate Modes. The DOCK190 can also be used with USB 3.0 Type-A (traditional host PC connector) and Type-B ports (often on phones) via the in-box ACC1104 USB Type-C to Type-A SuperSpeed adapter.
Universal Power Delivery and Charging
Like the Targus DOCK180, the DOCK190USZ has the same high-performance capabilities as other Targus DisplayLink DL6950 based USB 3.0 docks, but the DOCK190 also has USB Type-C Power Delivery (PD) 3.0 up to 100WDC on it's Upstream Facing Port (UFP) built-in. The DOCK190 supports USB Type-C PD at 5V (phones), 9V (Apple), 12V (some HP), 15V (many Dell, HP, and Lenovo) and 20V (2016 MacBook and higher performance PC) up to 100W. Un-Like the DOCK180, the DOCK190 supports legacy (barrel) 19.VDC power and charging to 90WDC without the need for the ACA42. Legacy power and charging support is built-in to the DOCK190. It comes with power tips for most of the popular host PCs from Dell, HP, Lenovo (square tip), Asus, Toshiba, etc., see the additional information here.
The DOCK190 also ships with the Targus ACC1104 in the box for converting from USB Type-C Gen 1 to a USB 3.0 Type-A SuperSpeed connection to the host. The DOCK190 also comes with five USB 3.0 Downstream Facing Ports (DFP). Of the four USB 3.0 Type-A ports, the port on the right side is BC1.2 Power Delivery compliant for fast charging i.e. legacy micro-USB OTG and Lightning phones. The USB Gen 1 Type-C on the left side can supply downstream power of up to 4.5W at 5VDC, often used to charge a USB Type-C phone. Keep in mind, this is a Downstream Facing Port (DFP) like the USB Type-A ports on the DOCK190. Its for USB downstream device connection and not for the host connection. In addition to dual 4K2K monitor support, the DOCK190 comes with a standard industry lock slot (K), a power dock button, a blue LED power indicator, a RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet jack (supporting Wake-On-Lan), and a 3.5mm combination stereo audio output/input jack. The DL-6950 chipset inside supports 6-channel audio on the HDMI2.0 and DP1.2++ ports. The power button supports host power control if the host is so equipped and configured. The 6.8" x 3.8" x 1.6" compact form factor can be mounted with the forthcoming Targus VESA mounting bracket to keep it off the desktop. The DOCK190 is TAA, CE, FCC, ICES, AU, KC pre-scan, RoHS, REACH, Prop65 certified, and complies with ErP Lot 26, Network Standby with WOL @ 2W. The operating temperature is 0 to 40 degrees C and storage is -20 to 60 degrees C. And it is TAA compliant. The DOCK190USZ is the most universal Universal Docking Station. It supports today's Type-C hosts, legacy Type-A hosts with barrel power and is ready for future technologies.
